Filip Żółtowski Quartet

Filip Żółtowski Quartet combines the traditions of jazz Improvisation with modern sounds and Melodic themes, also drawing on Polish folklore. It is a fusion of jazz music, often highly improvised, with electronic sounds, inspired by producers known more from the pop or EDM music scene (e.g. Flume, Medasin), as well as hip-hop beats in the style of James Yancey (J. Dill). If we were to define the main connecting point of this fusion of genres, it would be jazz, inspired by  Steve Coleman and Five Elements, Theo Crocker and Brad Mehldau.

The band already released two albums - "Humanity"(2021) which was well received both in Poland and abroad(120 K views of the album on YouTube) and "BiBi"(2024) with Polish music company Alpaka Records. The quartet played at many festivals including: Jazz Jantar (Gdańsk), Lublin Jazz Festival, Cesky Rozhlas Jazz Fest (Prague) and Batch Festival (Brno). Another great distinction was the performance in the exclusive series of JAZZ.PL concerts on the 2nd Program of Polish Radio, as well as taking third place at the Blue Note Competition in Poznań and being recognized by the JazzPoPolsku foundations at the Jazz Juniors competition in Krakow.

Project is an attempt to break down barriers in thinking about acoustic jazz music. The material is a search for new sounds and solutions oscillating around modern jazz, groove and sonorism. Sound, emotions and energy are three words that perfectly describe this material. The band plans to record an album in 2025 and release it in 2026. At the moment you can listen to the song "Vice" recorded in 2023.
