Bio

Filip Żółtowski - born 14/02/1999 - A trumpeter, composer and music producer of the young generation from Czeladź, currently associated with Gdańsk. He made his debut on the jazz scene with his quartet in 2021 with the album "Humanity", with which the band played at leading festivals in Poland and abroad, including the Jazz Jantar Festival, Lublin Jazz Festival, as well as the Cesky Rozhlas Jazz Prague (broadcast live on Czech radio), and the Batch Festival in Brno. The band also performed in the prestigious "Jazz.PL" series of the Second Polish Radio Program. In addition to leading his own band, Filip also performs in bands from various genres such as: Sarsa, Natalia Muianga, Michał Sołtan or Jarecki Jazz Octet, with which he was awarded and played in the final of the International Jazz Competition in Getxo.

 

He also actively collaborates with the Wybrzeże Theatre in Gdańsk, where together with a group of musicians led by Marcin Nenko they created the music for the play "Iwona, Princess of Burgunda". It was awarded at the Gombrowicz Festival in Radom for the best music of the festival and also the performance awarded the Grand Prix at the "16th International Gombrowicz Festival" and Audience Award at "International Festival of Pleasant and Unpleasant Art".

 

As a producer, he has worked with artists such as: Natalia Capelik-Muianga, Ola Chaładaj and "Nata'tu". Among others, he produced the songs "Głodne Plotki", "Ciao", "Ach te Damy" and arranged the piece "Twarze" for an instrumental-vocal ensemble. Filip also composed the music for the short film "Poranki kiedy wracamy do domu".

 

 

Studies

 

A graduate of master's studies with distinction at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music. Stanisław Moniuszko in Gdańsk, in the class of dr.hab. Jerzy Małek. Erasmus + foreign exchange student at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in the class of Ruud Breuls and Erik Veldkamp. Graduate of the Karol Szymanowski POSM II degree in Katowice, and with distinction from the Karol Szymanowski PSM I degree. Fryderyk Chopin in Będzin.

- Victory at the "Dzielnica Brzmi Dobrze" competition and patronage of the Katowice Unesco City of Music with the "NOTTOOEASY" band - as a result, the release of the album "Heads with no faces" with this band at the age of 19.

 

Workshops Masterclass

 

He has perfected his skills at many courses and workshops in Poland and abroad, including INTL Jazz Platform, CvA Masterclass, Spring Trumpet Workshops in Koszęcin, and the International Trumpet Conference in Łódź. There, he had the opportunity to study under the supervision of esteemed artists and educators such as Piotr Wojtasik, Melissa Aldana, Ben Wendel, Johan Plomp, Hans Peter Salentin, Lotte Anker, and Sissel Vera Pettersen.

 

Filip is also a teacher at the Youth Culture Center in Sopot, where he teaches trumpet, as well as a jazz band, and is actively involved in organizing artistic events. In October 2023, he coordinated workshops with teachers who lecture at the University of Memphis Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music, including PhD Rebecca Arendt, PhD. Marcin Arendt, PhD. Ryan Fisher.
